Dynamic Ad Insertion (DAI) is a tool that lets you upload audio files (ads, announcements, etc) to your podcast episodes for a period of time, and then automatically remove them at the end of that time.
Here are a few examples of how to use DAI:
Run a podcast ad campaign for 3 months
Announce a new book release across all your episodes
Announce an upcoming event, webinar, or product release
Test different affiliate programs on your podcast over time by recording your own ads
DAI is a very new technology in the podcast space and can be used in a ton of creative ways. With Resonate Hosting, you can now attach dynamic content to your podcast episodes as pre-roll, mid-roll, and post-roll ads.
How it Works
Log into your account (or sign up) at app.resonaterecordings.com
2. Click “Advertisements” in the bottom left corner
3. Click “Create Ad”
a. Choose pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll
b. Set your campaign start and end times
c. Attach your ad or audio file as an MP3
4. After you have selected an episode master for an episode, you can configure the Ad Markers. Go to your podcast episode and and select “Ad Markers” to start
5. Fill out the Ad Markers form to set up your ad
a. Choose pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll
b. Choose the exact insertion time for your episode (HH:MM:SS)
c. Select the ad you want to include in this specific episode
6. Behind the scenes, the Resonate Robots will attach your ad to the episode and create a new audio file for the episode
7. After your campaign ends, the Resonate Robots will remove the dynamic ad from your episode across all of the episodes that it’s attached to.
8. Once the ad has been attached to your episode, it will appear as your Episode Master
9. After the campaign ends, the Resonate Robots will remove the ad from your episode and swap out the audio file for the original episode.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 across all episodes you want your ads to run on.
How to edit an ad
1. Navigate to the Advertisements tab in your Resonate account
2. Click on the edit icon next to the specific ad you want to update
3. Click "Submit" to save changes to your ad
How to delete an ad
1. Navigate to the Advertisements tab in your Resonate account
2. Click on the delete icon next to the ad you want to delete
⚠️ WARNING: Deleting an ad will remove it from all of the live episodes that your ad is in. If you are deleting an ad that is live within a campaign, you will see a popup on your screen that lists out every episode your ad will be removed from before you confirm deletion.
