This guide will teach you how to use the Resonate app to manage your podcast production.

Do my guests need an account to join a Remote Recorder session?

Yes. Your guests will need to make a free Resonate account in order to join a recording session with the iOS app. However, they can join your session on the web app through a computer without making an account.

How to record a solo recording

You can record your podcast intro, ads, or even a full-length monologue episode using the built-in recorder feature in the app. While remote recordings require access to a computer to start them, you can fire up a solo recording in the app on your own, no matter where you are.

  1. Open the app

  2. Click “Record” in the bottom center

  3. Grant access to your microphone

  4. Click “Start” to begin recording

  5. Record with AirPods or a mobile lav mic like the SmartLav+ (plus this iPhone adapter) for better sound quality.

  6. Click stop recording to end your monologue recording

  7. Give your recording a name, preview it, and click “Save to my library” or delete

  2. Click on your show name in the top left corner

How to submit a new episode

At this time the Resonate iOS app does not support creating new episodes. You can log into the web app to create a new episode, then edit your submission from the mobile app.

How to edit an episode in production

  3. Click on the edit icon in the top right corner

  5. Click “Save” to publish your changes. If your episode is already approved and already live in directories, any changes you make will be reflected in those directories the next time they refresh your feed.

  • Publish date and time: This is the official time when Resonate will publish your episode on your RSS feed and podcast microsite. Directories will release your episode based on their independent refresh cycle within the day. You can learn more about this here.

  • Editing and mixing instructions: Let your audio engineers know what they need to fix on your episode, what timestamps they need to remove (if you purchased standard audio). These instructions are private to you and the Resonate team, and will not be shared publicly.

  • Show notes: This field displays your show notes on your podcast microsite. You can use HTML formatting to add hyperlinks, lists, and more. Learn how to format your show notes here.
